Silver prices were marginally up by 0.32 per cent at Rs 39,925 per kg at the futures trade as speculators raised their bets despite a weak trend in the global market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in July went up by Rs 128 or 0.32 per cent at Rs 39,925 per kg in a business turnover of 528 lots. Similarly, the white metal for delivery in September was trading higher by Rs 112 or 0.28 per cent at Rs 40,433 per kg in 2 lots.
Market analysts said speculative positions created by participants mainly influenced silver futures futures but a weak trend overseas limited the gains. Meanwhile, silver fell 0.21 per cent to $16.41 an ounce in Singapore.
