Silver prices went up by 0.37 per cent to ₹38,475 per kg at the futures trade as speculators raised their bets owing to a firm trend overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March moved up by ₹ 140 or 0.37 per cent to ₹ 38,475 per kg in a business turnover of 35 lots. On similar lines, the white metal for delivery in May gained ₹ 119 or 0.31 per cent to ₹ 38,967 per kg in 389 lots.

Analysts said expanding of positions by traders in line with a firm trend in global markets attributed the rise in silver prices at the futures trade. Globally, silver rose 0.36 per cent to $ 16.56 an ounce in Singapore.
