Silver prices were higher by Rs 81 to Rs 38,890 per kg at the futures trade as speculators raised their bets amid a firm trend overseas.
Silver for delivery in May was trading higher by Rs 81 or 0.21 per cent at Rs 38,890 per kg in a business turnover of 3 lots at the Multi Commodity Exchange. Silver for delivery in July, too, gained Rs 10 or 0.03 per cent to Rs 39,514 per kg in 526 lots.
In the international market, silver rose 0.24 per cent to $16.39 an ounce in Singapore.
Analysts attributed the rise in silver prices at the futures trade to raising of bets by participants, largely in sync with a firm trend in global markets as tariff woes between the US and China returned, raising the demand for precious metals as a safe haven.
