Silver prices rose Rs 132 to Rs 40,620 per kg at the futures trade today on speculative buying by investors following its gains in overseas markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March next year surged Rs 132 or 0.33 per cent to Rs 40,620 per kg in a business turnover of five lots. The white metal for delivery in December was trading higher by Rs 90 or 0.23 per cent to Rs 40,000 per kg in 1,112 lots.

Analysts said speculative buying driven by a better global trend lifted silver prices at the futures trade.

Meanwhile, silver rose 0.23 per cent to $17.09 an ounce in Singapore.
