Taking positive cues from overseas markets, silver prices were up by 0.48 per cent at Rs 33,977 per kg at the futures trade today.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in December moved up by Rs 163 or 0.48 per cent to Rs 33,977 per kg in a business turnover of 2,119 lots.
Similarly, the white metal for delivery in far-month March next year traded higher by Rs 158 or 0.46 per cent to Rs 34,571 per kg in 354 lots.
Traders attributed the rise in silver futures to a firm global trend.
Globally, silver rose 0.25 per cent to $14.19 an ounce in Singapore.
