Silver prices were up by 0.27 per cent at Rs 41,485 per kg at the futures trade today as traders increased their bets amid a firm global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March moved up by Rs 113 or 0.27 per cent to Rs 41,485 per kg in a business turnover of 387 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in far-month May traded higher by Rs 84 or 0.2 per cent at Rs 42,100 per kg in 16 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in silver prices at the futures trade to a firm trend in precious metals overseas and pick-up in demand at the spot market.

Meanwhile, silver rose 0.53 per cent to $17.16 an ounce in Singapore.
