The National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange has appointed Vijay Kumar Venkataraman as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for three years with effective from today.
Kumar holds a B.Tech degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT-Madras and an MBA from Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi.
He brings over 25 years of experience in leadership roles in the areas of commodity trading and merchandising along with risk management, logistics and operations.
He has held leadership positions at Sharp Group, National Bulk Handling Corporation, Reliance Industries, Arthur Andersen, Cargill Inc, ITC and Britannia.
Kumar was the Chief Business Officer at NCDEX between June 2009 to September 2014, where he led teams involved in handling Product Design, Business Development, Logistics & Commodity Tracking as well as Quant and Market Structure. He has also served as a director on the board of National Commodities Clearing Corporation.
“Being a veteran in this industry, his wealth of experience in this domain will be of great asset to the company,” said Rabi Narayan Das, Chairman, NCDEX.
