Indian markets fell over 0.3 per cent at the closing session on Monday on heavy selling in realty, IT and TECk sector stocks despite firm global cues.

The 30-share BSE index Sensex was down 50.57 points or 0.24 per cent at 21,143.01 and the Nifty was down 22.7 points or 0.36 per cent at 6,291.10.

On the BSE, realty index was down 1.59 per cent, followed by IT 0.85 per cent and TECk 0.63 per cent. On the other hand, metal, FMCG and oil & gas sector stocks remained investors' favourite and were up 0.68 per cent, 0.33 per cent and 0.15 per cent, respectively.

BHEL, Coal India, HDFC, Tata Motors and RIL were the top five Sensex gainers, while the top five losers were Infosys, Bajaj Auto, M&M, L&T and ICICI Bank.

European stocks were little changed after the Stoxx Europe 600 Index climbed to its highest level since May 2008. US stock index futures were little changed and Asian shares gained.
