Sensex gained 48 points after the sharp fall in crude oil prices last night.

The benchmark index opened on the lower side at 28322 against the previous close of 28338. It touched a high of 28470 and low of 28261 before closing at 28386. Turnover on BSE was down sharply at `2,965 crore against `7,291 crore recorded on Tuesday.

In NSE, Nifty was up 13 points at 8,476.

After a sharp slide yesterday, index heavyweight and cigarette maker ITC gained two per cent to `363 on bargain hunting.

Delhi focused realty majors especially DLF and Unitech moved up after Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu approved increased ground coverage and FAR (Floor Area Ratio) in Delhi.

Other realty stocks that jumped today include Sobha (1%), DB Realty (4%), Housing Development & Infrastructure (4%), Godrej Properties (1%), Anant Raj (10%) and Oberoi Realty (7%).

MRF rose four per cent after the company's net profit jumped 72 per cent to RS 317 crore on seven per cent rise in total income at Rs 3,386 crore in the September quarter. The result was announced during market hours.

Prominent gainers for the day include Gujarat Gas (17%), Torrent Power (7%), DLF (7%), Oberoi Realty (7%), HCC (6%), JSW Energy (5%), NCC (5%) and Berger Paint (5%).

Major losers were Rasoya Proteins (-5%), Kailash Auto Finance (-5%), ZEE (-4%), Finolex Cables (-4%), Gujarat Pipavav Port (-4%) and Shriram City Union Finance (-3%).
