Asian stocks eased on Friday despite an overnight rally on Wall Street. Profit-booking by investors particularly in markets which are seen vulnerable to inflationary pressures led to the downtrend.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell 96.69 points or 0.92 per cent to 10,381.97. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng shed119.15 points or 0.5 per cent to trade at 23,660.47. Singapore’s Straits Times was down 3.3 points or 0.1 per cent at 3,216.53. South Korea’s Kospi lost 14.91 points or 0.7 per cent to trade at 2,100.10.
Australia’s S&P/Asx 200 fell 24.9 points or 0.52 per cent to 4,781.20. China’s Shanghai Composite was down 9.2 points or 0.33 per cent at 2,739.95. Taiwan’s Taiex was up 10.12 points or 0.11 per cent at 9,112.45. — Agencies
