Asian shares were trading higher today on reports that Greece is likely to get its second bailout package which may avert the euro zone debt crisis. Trading sentiment also turned bullish on data suggesting that industrial activity in Japan has begun to recover from the March earthquake.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 climbed 174.3 points or 1.83 per cent to 9,679.27. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng jumped 213.93 points or 0.92 per cent to 23,398.25. Singapore’s Straits Times was up 10.88 points or 0.35 per cent at 3,151.48. South Korea’s Kospi gained 47.22 points or 2.26 per cent to 2,141.01.
Australia’s S&P/Asx 200 rose 43.90 points or 0.94 per cent to 4,711.40. China’s Shanghai Composite was down 1.55 points or 0.06 per cent at 2,704.81. Taiwan’s Taiex jumped 165.33 points or 1.87 per cent to 8,989.01.
