Asian stocks rose on Monday as investors greeted the news of Egyptian President Mr Hosni Mubarak's resignation with relief.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 rose 89.24 points or 0.84 per cent to 10,694.89. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng climbed 187.26 points or 0.82 per cent to 23,016.18. Singapore’s Straits Times jumped 29.26 points or 0.95 per cent to 3,106.53. South Korea’s Kospi was up 31.41 points or 1.59 per cent at 2,008.60.
Australia’s S&P/Asx 200 gained 46.9 points or 0.96 per cent to 4,927.80. China’s Shanghai Composite rose 49.48 points or 1.75 per cent to 2,876.81. Taiwan’s Taiex jumped 79.57 points or 0.92 per cent to 8,689.43.
