US stocks ended the session higher on Wednesday despite another rise in oil prices, as the latest signs of economic strength gave hopes to investors that it may be able to absorb expected higher energy costs.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 8.63 points or 0.07 per cent at 12,066.65. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index gained 2.1 points or 0.16 per cent to 1,308.43. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 10.66 points or 0.39 per cent to 2,748.07.
