Metal sector stocks made rapid strides to emerge the predominant gainers on the BSE near the close on Thursday. At 3.05 pm Hindalco Industries had built on its morning levels to hold gains of 3.80 per cent. It was trading at ₹188.55 as against ₹181.65 at close yesterday.
Coal India made further ground to trade at ₹376.55. This represented a gain of 3.09 per cent on its previous close at ₹365.25.
Tata Steel spiked up 2.95 per cent at ₹558.70. The stock had closed the previous session at ₹542.70.
Power major NTPC surged 2.56 per cent at ₹150.35. The stock was trading at ₹146.60 at the close yesterday.
Sesa Sterlite gained 2.16 per cent to emerge among the top gainers on the bourse. It was trading at ₹303.05 as against ₹296.65 overnight.
