Asian stocks were trading in a mixed range today as investors were worried over the political battle in the United States to raise the debt ceiling. Also, Europe’s debt woes dampened the trading sentiment.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell 56.59 points or 0.56 per cent to 10,041.13. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was down 8.48 points or 0.04 per cent at 22,563.60. Singapore’s Straits Times fell 8.95 points or 0.28 per cent at 3,177.62. South Korea’s Kospi was down 4.88 points or 0.23 per cent at 2,163.82.
Australia’s S&P/Asx 200 shed 14.70 points or 0.32 per cent to 4,558.60. China’s Shanghai Composite up was 1.87 points or 0.07 per cent at 2,704.72. Taiwan’s Taiex gained 9.48 points or 0.11 per cent to 8,803.72.
