Most Asian stocks fell on Friday on worries that rising inflation may lead to aggressive policy tightening and hurt growth in the world’s engines like China and India.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell 90.53 points or 0.87 per cent to 10,346.78. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 70.47 points or 0.29 per cent to 24,074.17. Singapore’s Straits Times was down 1.4 points or 0.04 per cent at 3,204.08. South Korea’s Kospi shed 25.62 points or 1.22 per cent to 2,081.04.
Australia’s S&P/Asx 200 fell 27.50 points or 0.57 per cent to 4,756.20. China’s Shanghai Composite rose 49.82 points or 1.86 per cent to 2,727.47. Taiwan’s Taiex was down 61.36 points or 0.68 per cent at 8,960.81.
