Mauritius-based Nalanda India Equity Fund has increased its stake in Great Eastern Shipping to 5.11 per cent on January 4, 2012. In a stock exchange filing on Tuesday, the fund disclosed that it acquired 1,83,809 shares or 0.12 per cent through an open market purchase on January 4.
Based on Great Eastern Shipping's closing price of Rs 211 a share on January 4, the hike in stake is valued at Rs 3.87 crore.
Prior to this, the fund held 4.99 per cent stake in the company.
