Profit booking saw the Indian indices close marginally in the red on Tuesday.

The Nifty shed 28.5 points (0.6 per cent) to close at 4,750.5 and the Sensex lost 97 points (0.6 per cent) to close at 15,874.

“The whole mood was lacklustre today and this was reflected in the behaviour of all the indices,” said the Head of Research of an Indian brokerage.

All the indices on the NSE were marginally in the red.

On the BSE, the only index to close slightly positive was the consumer durables index.

Volatility was down one per cent and the India Vix closed at 26.29.

The advance decline ratio of the Nifty was 18:31 with the price of one scrip unchanged.

RCom, Ranbaxy, Tata Power, Siemens and Ambuja Cements were the top Nifty gainers while Axis Bank, IDFC, DLF, Cipla and Coal India were the top losers.
