Shares of Tata Power went up by nearly 3 per cent in early trade on the Bombay Stock Exchange today, boosted by a three-fold increase in net profit for the third quarter ended December 31, 2010.
The country’s largest private power producer, Tata Power rose by 2.99 per cent to an early high of Rs 1,278.50 on BSE. The stock was also the top performer among the 30-Sensex scrips in early trade.
In a similar fashion, the stock surged by 3.03 per cent to Rs 1,279 on the National Stock Exchange.
The company, had yesterday, posted a three-fold jump in net profit to Rs 464.11 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2010.
