Energy shares helped the US stocks end the session up on Tuesday but investors were worried over rising fuel costs. Earnings reports from smaller companies also aided the market sentiment.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 34.43 points or 0.3 per cent to 11,671.88. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index was up 4.73 points or 0.37 per cent at 1,274.48. The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 9.03 points or 0.33 per cent to 2,716.83.
