Asian stocks were trading higher on Thursday taking cues from overnight gains in the Wall Street led by strong corporate earnings and outlook bolstering economic confidence.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 rose 83.18 points or 0.87 per cent to 9,690. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng jumped 228.07 points or 0.95 per cent to 24,124.17. Singapore’s Straits Times was up 30.24 points or 0.96 per cent at 3,196.04, South Korea’s Kospi gained 27.92 points or 1.29 per cent to 2,197.83.
Australia’s S& P/Asx 200 rose 45.6 points or 0.94 per cent to 4,904.60. China’s Shanghai Composite was up 22.65 points or 0.75 per cent at 3,029.69. Taiwan’s Taiex rose 144.37 points or 1.64 per cent to 8,957.65.
