Bank of Baroda led the pack on the NSE, gaining 9.27 per cent in the morning session. At 11.04 am the share was trading at Rs 158.55 as against Rs 145.10 at close on Friday.
State Bank of India was the other PSU bank in the limelight, trading at Rs 270.20 as against Rs 261.95 at close last week. This was a gain of 3.15 per cent.
Metal shares Hindalco Industries and Vedanta were also on a firm wicket, with Hindalco spiking up 3.49 per cent at Rs 143.80. The share had closed the previous session at Rs 138.95.
Vedanta gained 3.30 per cent to trade at Rs 225.15 as against Rs 217.95 at close last week.
Hero MotoCorp gained 3.36 per cent to trade at Rs 2,378.05 as against Rs 2,300.65 at close previously.
