With the market dropping sharply during the day’s trade, Bharti Airtel led the pack on the BSE with gains of 0.95 per cent at the close on Wednesday. At 3.25 pm the share was trading at Rs 421.90, as against Rs 417.95 at close yesterday.
The market witnessed a sell-off today on fears that the country was facing its first drought in six years and RBI's cautious statement on inflation. The BSE Sensex dropped over 430 points to fall below the 27,000 level, while the NSE Nifty declined over 120 points to hold above the 8,100 mark.
Infosys moved up 0.89 per cent to quote at Rs 2,026.75 as against Rs 2,008.80 at close yesterday.
NTPC held firm to edge up 0.83 per cent at Rs 139.1. The share had ended the previous session at Rs 137.95.
Coal India trimmed its morning gains to trade at Rs 386.65. This was up 0.80 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 383.60.
TCS crawled up 0.41 per cent at Rs 2,611.20 as against Rs 2,600.45 at close on Tuesday evening.
