Coal India was the top gainer on the BSE on Friday morning. At 10.59 am the share was trading at Rs 407.30, up 4.88 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 388.35.

According to reports the scrip was lifted by positive sentiment generated by a raft of positive research reports that followed its March-quarter earnings last week.

Morgan Stanley has also upgraded the scrip to "overweight" from "equal-weight" in a report on Friday. According to the report, the company has cited the improving outlook for realisations, improving volumes and healthy dividend yield as reasons for the upgrade. It has also raised the price target to Rs 449 from Rs 369.

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries rose 2.60 per cent to trade at Rs 853.80 as against Rs 832.15 at close yesterday.

GAIL (India) sailed up 1.79 per cent to trade at Rs 380.70. The share had closed the overnight session at Rs 374.

NTPC steamed up 1.24 per cent at Rs 138.40 as against Rs 136.70 at close overnight.

Larsen & Toubro built gains of 1.21 per cent to quote at Rs 1,681 as against Rs 1,660.95 at close yesterday.
