Buoyed by a firming global trend and pick up in spot demand, copper prices rose by 0.28 per cent to Rs 427.90 per kg in futures trade today.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in August rose by Rs 1.20 or 0.28 per cent to Rs 427.90 per kg with a business turnover of 3,935 lots. It had lost 0.30 per cent to Rs 426.70 per kg in the previous session.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in November gained Rs 1.15 or 0.27 per cent to Rs 433.75 per kg with a business volume of 287 lots.
Market analysts attributed the rise in copper prices at futures trade to a firming trend at the London Metal Exchange.
Meanwhile, copper for three-month delivery rose by 0.50 per cent to $9,565.50 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
