Sun Pharma was the top gainer on both the BSE and the NSE on Friday. At 3 pm the share was trading at Rs 920 on the NSE, up 3.84 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 885.95.

DLF also maintained its firm morning undertone to trade at Rs 147.90. The share was up 2.92 per cent on its previous close at Rs 143.70.

Axis Bank was quoting at Rs 562.05 as against Rs 547.25 at close yesterday. This was a gain of 2.70 per cent.

Tata Motors, which launched its new hatchback Bolt today, sped up 2.53 per cent at Rs 565.45. The share had closed the Wednesday session at Rs 551.50.

Asian Paints was trading at Rs 2.26 per cent. It was quoting at Rs 870.55 as against Rs 851.30 at close yesterday.

The Sensex and the Nifty both recorded new highs today. However, the Sensex, which breached the 29,000 level earlier in the day, retreated below that level on profit-booking. The Nifty also came off its early highs but was comfortably above the 8,700-level near the close.
