IT shares were the predominant gainers on the NSE on Monday. At the close, HCL Technologies remained the top gainer on the bourse. It was trading at Rs 1,891, up 5.54 per cent on its previous close at Rs 1,791.75. The IT company announced last week that Q2 net profit had grown 28 per cent.
Axis Bank made rapid strides in the second half of the day to trade at Rs 617.30. This represented a gain of 4.97 per cent on its previous close at Rs 588.10.
Hindalco Industries made further ground to hold gains of 3.97 per cent at Rs 145.25. The share had closed Friday’s session at Rs 139.70.
Wipro was up 3.06 per cent to quote at Rs 625.1 as against Rs 606.55 at close last week.
IDFC spurted 2.44 per cent to Rs 176.25 as against Rs 172.05 at close last week.
