Closing bell

The Sensex ended marginally lower by 22.21 points or 0.06 per cent at 36,351.23 and the Nifty down 23.35 points or 0.21 per cent at 10,957.10.

Domestic sentiment was hit as traders were reluctant to make fresh bets ahead of the voting on the no-confidence motion against the NDA Government on Friday. Weakening of rupee to 69.06 against the dollar intraday also weighed on investor sentiment.

After opening higher at 36,509.08, the Sensex hit intraday high of 36,515.58 and a low of 36,279.33. It finally settled at 36,351.23, down 22.21 points, or 0.06 per cent.
