Auto index is staying afloat but barely as the BSE Sensex was down by about 80 points in the morning trade today.
Auto industry heavyweights like Maruti Suzuki and Bajaj Auto had ceded some of the gains. Bajaj Auto lost Rs 17.30 to trade at Rs 1,538 and Maruti was down by Rs 16.40 at Rs 1,224.30.
Hero MotoCorp was marginally down to Rs 2,116.85, a loss of Rs 4.75. However, Mahindra & Mahindra edged up to Rs 729.15, a gain of Rs 6.40 and Tata Motors was up by Rs 2.05 to Rs 242.05.
