The National Stock Exchange today recorded the highest—ever turnover in futures and option (F&O) segment at Rs 6.27 lakh crore on the expiry day of current month derivative contracts.
The total F&O traded value today stood at Rs 6.27 lakh crore, registering a jump of nearly 8 per cent over its earlier high of Rs 5.81 lakh crore recorded on February 26, 2015.
Meanwhile, the index options also touched a record high of Rs 4.9 lakh crore today. It had touched a record of Rs 4.62 lakh crore on February 26, 2015, NSE said in a statement.
The total F&O contracts traded value stood at 2,72,05,109 contracts —— a new high and the total number F&O trades also registered a record high of 64,65,358 trades, earlier record of 57,99,586 trades was on January 28, 2015.
In the equity market, the wide—based Nifty settled down 58.25 points or 0.71 per cent at 8,181.50.
