NTPC extended its morning rally to notch up gains of 1.96 per cent at Rs 135.40 near the close on Tuesday. The share had closed the previous session at Rs 132.80.
M&M also rode up higher to trade at Rs 1,231, up 1.81 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 1,209.15.
Vedanta shed some of its early gains to trade at Rs 98.65. This was a gain of 1.81 per cent on its Monday close at Rs 96.90.
Metal share Hindalco Industries also came off its morning highs at Rs 82.35. This was up 1.73 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 80.95.
Hero MotoCorp rode up 1.37 per cent to trade at Rs 2,583.90 against Rs 2,549.10 at close previously.
