Buoyed by a rally in oil prices, Cairn India and ONGC surged to stay ahead of the pack on the NSE at the close on Thursday.
Cairn India closed the session with gains of 3.93 per cent at Rs 236.60 as against Rs 227.65 at close yesterday. This represented a gain of 3.93 per cent.
ONGC also extended its gains to trade at Rs 327.65. This was a gain of 3.31 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 317.15.
Idea Cellular rang up gains of 2.04 per cent at Rs 202.75 as against Rs 198.70 at close on Wednesday.
M&M made strides to hold gains of 1.62 per cent at Rs 1,228.5. The share had closed the previous session at Rs 1,208.9.
Hindalco Industries edged up further to hold gains of 1.48 per cent at Rs 137.15 as against Rs 135.15 at close yesterday.
