Reliance surged into the lead on the BSE on Thursday morning. At 11 am it was the top gainer on the bourse, quoting at Rs 933.20 as against Rs 905.85 at close yesterday. This represented a gain of 3.02 per cent.

HDFC Bank traded up 1.64 per cent to quote at Rs 1,075.50 as against Rs 1,058.10 at close on Wednesday.

Dr Reddy’s Labs spurted up 1.36 per cent at Rs 3,282.10. The share had ended the previous session at Rs 3,238.10.

Wipro maintained its recent firm run to quote at Rs 610 as against Rs 606.70 at close overnight.

GAIL (India) gained 0.53 per cent at Rs 421. The share had closed Wednesday’s session at Rs 418.80.

The markets traded in the red today after several successive sessions of notching up gains. Sentiment was hit by the Federal Reserve's decision to maintain the status quo on rates and as domestic investors booked profits. The Sensex fell over 150 points to the 29,400-level, while the Nifty fell more than 40 points to settle above the 8,850 level.
