Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation on Friday informed the stock exchanges that the company’s plants have been shut down from January 11. The company will replace the necessary catalysts, attend to the repairs of critical equipment and other rotating equipment, undertake cleansing of all heat exchangers, upgrade the DCS control system in the ammonia plant and carry out other routine shutdown jobs. SPIC expects to resume operations in four weeks. Shares of SPIC crashed 7.75 per cent at ₹47 on the NSE.
