VA Tech Wabag , a leading pure-play water technology Indian multinational, has secured ₹296-crore worth order from Delhi Jal Board. The order is towards rehabilitation and upgradation of the 182 MLD waste water treatment plant at Rithala under the Yamuna Action Plan. The scope includes design, supply, construction, and commissioning, including operations and maintenance, for 11 years. The project will be financed by Japan International Cooperation Agency. The upgradation includes designing and constructing a biogas power generation unit from the sewage, and reducing dependence on the power grid, thus promoting the waste-to-energy concept. Shares of VA Tech Wabag edged down 0.67 per cent at ₹485.85 on the NSE.
