Role of bankers in facilitating development and implementing social initiatives of the government, including direct benefit transfer, is significant, according to K.P. Muralidharan, general manager, Syndicate Bank. He said this while addressing members of Bankers’ Club in Kannur. The banking system in the country is one of the best in the world. It has a bright future too, despite the many challenges it faces, he said. This becomes evident if one considers the vast population of the country and massive potential available in the rural areas. T. Mukundan, president of the club, presided over. V. Ashokan, deputy general manager, Syndicate Bank; V. S. Jayaram, lead district chief manager; and Jayachandran C. V., secretary, Bankers’ Club, spoke on the occasion. Mohnanan N. proposed a vote of thanks.
