The process of enlisting all adults in Ernakulam district as bank account holders is expected to be completed by this September.
Mr Mayank Mehta, deputy general manager, Union Bank of India, informed the District Level Review Committee (DLRC) that banks in the district are moving ahead with the process of meaningful financial inclusion.
Survey
A survey conducted by Kudumbasree Mission reveals there are nearly 20 per cent adults in the district without bank accounts. Now bank branches have started ward-wise campaign to get accounts opened by all those excluded, Mr Mehta said.
Those in need of genuine credits would be supported by banks. Banks will also offer the remittance services and micro insurance policies to the people in the district. The process is expected to be completed by September.
