Imagine a bank locker room doubling up as a make-up room. The Bareilly branch of the State Bank of India (SBI) has just done that to keep their women customers happy. The locker room of the bank has been equipped with a dressing table stocked with make-up products.

“According to the directives of the bank administration, arrangement of a dressing table has been made in every branch having locker facility, but we thought of making it a complete experience instead of limiting the facility to a mere formality,” the Assistant General Manager of SBI main branch, Mr Rakesh Kumar Rana, told PTI.

An array of beauty products have been made available at the dressing table kept inside the locker room.

“The dressing table offers a variety of beauty products from ‘bindi', eyeliner, nail paint, lipstick to perfumes, creams, foundations and even hair colour for the women customers,” Mr Rana said.

The dressing table, which has almost 50 items, is no less than a vanity bag for the women customers, he said, adding the expenditure in providing the service is borne by the bank itself.

“Extending the facility has resulted in a number of benefits. Not only has the satisfaction level of the customers increased, but the number of people opting for locker facility has gone up,” Mr Rana said.

“Satisfaction of customers, who keep their valuables worth several lakhs of rupees in the lockers, is superior. Instead of being termed ‘beautiful banking' this service should be named as ‘happiness banking',” the bank officer said.

Enthused by the response, Chief General Manager of the bank, Mr Abhay Kumar Singh, has expressed his desire to implement the facility in other branches of the bank in the State.
