Public sector lender Canara Bank has reported a jump of 5.05 per cent in its net profit at Rs 1,105.73 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2010, compared with Rs 1,052.58 crore in the October-December quarter of the previous fiscal.

In a BSE filing, the bank said that its total income during the third quarter under review stood at Rs 6,444.55 crore, up from Rs 5,469.10 crore in the corresponding period of 2009-10.

In the nine-month period of the current fiscal, the bank reported a net profit of Rs 3,126.98 crore, while it was Rs 2,518.43 crore during April-December 2009-10.

The total income during the three quarters ended December 31, 2010 stood at Rs 18,416.46 crore.

The bank shares were trading at Rs 588, up 4.55 per cent over the previous close on the BSE.
