In order to reduce pendency of motor accident cases and ensure speedy settlement, the General Insurance Public Sector Association (GIPSA) is planning to open 50 to100 Common Mechanism for Compromise Settlement of Motor Third Party Claims (CMCSTPC) centres across the country.
Mr G. Srinivasan, Chairman, GIPSA said that the first CMCSTPC centre was opened in Cuttack in March and Rs 2.93 crore has been disbursed as settlement involving 475 cases.
The Cuttack centre now works as a permanent and regular centre and it has been enlarged to consider the cases pending in Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) at Bhubaneswar and Khurda.
Mr Srinivasan, who was here on Saturday in connection with the pilot launch of the Kochi centre in the south zone, told reporters here on Saturday said that the next pilot project will be launched in Mehsana in Ahmedabad and later in Jaipur.
