Kolkata-based National Insurance Company Ltd (NIC) has received fresh allocations to roll out 163 business centres under the financial inclusion programme by the end of this fiscal. Of this, nearly 153 business centres will be set up in Tier II to Tier IV areas.

The state-owned general insurance company, which had received approval from the Centre to open 506 business centres and offices under the financial inclusion programme in February 2013, has already opened 189 business centres as on June 30, 2013, said a press statement issued by NIC. The company has set up business centre hubs across the country to monitor the day-to-day activities of the business centres, the release said. NIC paid a dividend of Rs 139 crore for FY13 to the Centre.
