The rupee fell 15 paise to Rs 44.22 per US dollar in the early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market today, weighed down by dollar’s gains against other Asian currencies overseas and a subdued trend in the equity market.
Forex dealers said strengthening of the dollar against other Asian currencies overseas and a lower opening in the domestic stock market mainly put pressure on the rupee. They said dollar demand from importers also put pressure on the domestic unit.
