The rupee gained another 5 paise to Rs 45.17 against the US dollar in the early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market on Wednesday, supported by gains made by other Asian currencies against the greenback.
Forex dealers said a higher opening in the stock market bolstered the rupee sentiment. In addition, the dollar’s weakness against other Asian currencies also supported the rupee’s rise, they said.
The domestic unit had ended 25 paise higher at 45.22/23 against the US dollar in the previous session following a rally in the equity market and fresh dollar selling by exporters.
