The rupee fell by 3 paise to Rs 45.07 per US dollar in the early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market today, weighed down by gains registered by the American currency against other Asian rivals.
However, a higher opening in the stock market capped the losses.
The domestic unit ended 6 paise lower at 45.04/05 per US dollar in the previous session due to mild dollar demand from importers amid weak equity markets.
Forex dealers said a mixed trend in other Asian currencies and a halt in the euro’s overnight rally against the dollar put some pressure on the rupee, but a higher opening in the stock market restricted the losses.
