State Bank of India (SBI), Madurai region, has opened Customer Points (CPs) in eight villages to assist business correspondents to discharge their duties as part of financial inclusion programme.
Mr Joseph Mathew, DGM, Rural Business-Outreach, Tamil Nadu, State Bank of India, inaugurated four them through video conferencing at Uthenagudi, Puthuthamaraipatti, Thirumogur and Rajakkur and four more at Kottaimedu, Kondaiampatti, Thenkarai and Kutradampatti.
The CPs are established with a laptop/PC and operated in real time by the business correspondent, identified through a non-government organisation and trained for the purpose.
