Agriculture and allied activities, including agribusiness and food processing as well as the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) sector and tourism, have in recent years generated sizeable employment opportunities and incomes for a large number of people across the country.
In some way, these sectors have contributed to ensuring livelihood security for millions and have advanced the 12th Five-Year Plan theme of ‘faster, more inclusive and sustainable growth’.
In order to promote the theme and demonstrate how such security would advance not only economic growth but also social development, The HinduBusinessLine and YES Bank are in a partnership that envisages a series of events across the country with local flavour and relevance.
In addition, this will involve exclusive editorial coverage aimed at the development of entrepreneurship.
What place better than Gujarat to launch the Livelihood Security series? In recent years, the State has ably demonstrated that development at the grassroots is indeed achievable. Progress in Gujarat can transform it into a model that can be replicated in other States.
The inauguration of the YES Bank- BusinessLine Livelihood Security series will be by Gujarat Cabinet Minister Saurabh Patel, who holds several portfolios including Finance, Energy and Tourism, among others. He will share the State’s secret of success and outline a roadmap for the future.
T Nandakumar, Chairman, NDDB (former Secretary, Union Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Food), will be the guest of honour and deliver the keynote address.
Rana Kapoor, Managing Director and CEO, YES Bank, will deliver the welcome address. Mukund Padmanabhan, Editor, BusinessLine , will present the opening remarks. Two panel discussions — one on agriculture and one on MSMEs — will follow the inaugural function.
Panelists representing different stakeholder organisations will share their success stories and domain expertise with the delegates.
