The number of complaints to the Banking Ombudsman have gone up by 35 per cent in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh during 2015-16 compared to the previous year.
"We need to examine the reasons for the increase in number of complaints," N Krishna Mohan, Banking Ombudsman for TS and AP, told newspersons here on Monday.
This could be due to an increase in the number of bank customers in view of schemes such as the Jan Dhan Yojana and the failure of disputes resolution at the branch level, he said.
Of total complaints of 5910, 3109 were from Telangana, while the rest were from Andhra Pradesh.
