Corporation Bank has won three awards in ‘Best Social Bank Excellence Award 2015’, instituted by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM).
A press release said here on Saturday that Corporation Bank won ‘Best Social Bank award for mid-sized bank’ (winner), ‘Best rural bank award for mid-sized bank’ (winner), and ‘Best bank for participation in government schemes mid-sized bank’ (winner).
SR Bansal, Chairman and Managing Director of the bank, received the awards from Jayant Sinha, Union Minster of State for Finance, at the 11th Annual Banking Summit in Mumbai on January 29.
Under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), the bank has opened accounts of all the identified un-banked households in the allotted villages and wards by December 17 2014, ahead of the target date of January 25 2015 fixed by Department of Financial Services (DFS), the release said.
Out of the total accounts opened under PMJDY, more than 85 per cent of accounts are active, it said.
