The Reserve Bank of India has said high inflation is a major challenge for monetary policy.
It said absence of corrective steps by the government to improve fiscal situation and high inflation limit space for monetary easing.
Economic growth in 2012-13 is expected to remain below potential, the central bank said. The Government needs to curtail subsidies and provide investment stimulus.
