Syndicate Bank has posted a 72 per cent jump in net profit at Rs 289 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2011.

The net profit stood at Rs 168.2 crore during the same period last fiscal, Syndicate Bank said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange today.

Total income increased to Rs 3,416.6 crore during the January-March quarter from Rs 2,742.2 crore during the same period previous fiscal.

The bank has proposed a dividend of Rs 3.70 (37 per cent) per share for the year 2010-11.

For the year ended March 31, 2011, the bank’s net profit grew by by 28.7 per cent to Rs 1,047.9 crore from Rs 813.3 crore in the previous fiscal. Also, the total income increased to Rs 12,365.9 crore from Rs 11,214.6 crore.

Meanwhile, the shares of Andhra Bank ended the day at Rs 115.55, up 1.45 per cent from the previous close on the BSE.
